A Bhutan taxi fare depends on the route, number of travel days, vehicle category, passenger count, pickup and drop-off locations, and the services included. A transfer to the border is different from a private vehicle retained for a complete Bhutan holiday.
Ask for separate line items where relevant, so you can compare quotations on the same basis:
- Transport: Indian-side transfer, Bhutan vehicle, driver, fuel and agreed sightseeing.
- Operating charges: parking, waiting, additional distance and any applicable vehicle charges.

Bhutan entry permits, guides and travel fees
Indian visitors need an entry permit and a valid Indian passport or voter ID. For Indian children under 18, Bhutan Tourism lists a passport or birth certificate, with a legal guardian accompanying them.
A guide is required for travel beyond border towns. A driver should not automatically be treated as your certified guide.
The published SDF for Indian adults is Rs.1,200 per person per night. This visitor fee is separate from the taxi fare unless explicitly included. Confirm applicable child rates, exemptions and nationality-specific requirements before booking.

Can a taxi take me all the way to Tiger’s Nest Monastery?
No. Vehicle access is to the trail starting area. The monastery visit involves a hike, so discuss walking ability, the day’s schedule and return pickup when planning the excursion.
Will the same vehicle take us from India through Bhutan?
Not necessarily. The border transfer and Bhutan sightseeing may use separate vehicles. Confirm the handover point, vehicle category and luggage arrangements before travel.
